'Dancing for Dummies,' a solo exhibition of new paintings and ceramic sculptures by Erica Eyres opens at Blinkers, Winnipeg (CA) on 26 August 2023.
"The exhibition is titled after the 'for Dummies' how-to book franchise with its culturally antiquated name--a lighthearted albeit, clearly messed up term of endearment--that casually guided many through complex life problems just like any charming self-help literature professes to impart. Often unintentionally hilarious, these high-selling manuals provided a fast and easy-to-digest guide to handling anything from divorce to depression, to dating, to self-confidence, and in Eyres' riff here, dancing. It was the book-length equivalent of a Wikipedia page in the pre-internet era."
