Clara Busch (b. 1991, Copenhagen; DK) is a visual artist based in Copenhagen, Denmark. Working primarily with drawing, sculpture and textiles, Busch’s practice explores ideas of bodily experience, offering an expressive framework that aims to transcend the limitations of language.
Collapsing distinctions between internal and exterior space, Busch’s works often blur the boundary between the body and its surroundings. Whether opting for a two- or three-dimensional approach, the artist’s interest in embodiment reflects on the relationship between physical objecthood and flattened image.
Busch’s pastel drawings modulate colour, density and transparency to present cropped abstract compositions that feel somewhat floral, genital, topographical and meterological. Heavily invested in ideas of intimacy and connection, both between people and with nature, Busch’s signature biomorphic aesthetic combines elements of the endoscopic with the botanical and the calligraphic.
